2026 Scripted Series Lab Showrunner Announced
Floyd Kane will be the Showrunner-in-Residence for the eighth iteration of the PSP’s flagship Scripted Series Lab program.
On his appointment, Floyd Kane remarked, “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the Pacific Screenwriting Program. I consider encouraging and mentoring new voices to be a crucial part of being a Showrunner/writer; it’s wonderful to be able to do this under the auspices of the esteemed Scripted Series Lab.”
“Floyd Kane brings such heart and insight to his storytelling”, commented the PSP’s Program Manager Smita Acharyya. “His unique path into the industry, ability to build complex human characters, and his commitment to telling authentic, underrepresented stories make him one of the most exciting voices shaping Canadian television today.”
The 2026 Scripted Series Lab will see Floyd lead a cohort of six emerging BC screenwriters in developing a new project in a 10-week writers room, the primary feature of this nationally recognized program. In addition, during the course of their 15-week full time program, the soon-to-be-announced participants will receive valuable mentoring on their own projects, along with workshops and information sessions facilitated by industry experts to help the cohort build sustainable careers in the entertainment industry. Alumni of the Scripted Series Lab are currently writing on shows such as Allegiance, Bet, Crew Girl, High Potential, Private Eyes West Coast, Saint-Pierre, Wild Cards, Yaga and more.
The lead sponsor of the 2026 Scripted Series Lab is Paramount+ Canada. Additional funding is provided by Creative BC and in kind support by the Vancouver International Film Festival.
