The Pacific Screenwriting Program is proud to announce a new partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Access Canada (WBDAC) designed to increase opportunities for BC’s early-career television screenwriters.

The new investment from WBDAC will significantly expand the PSP’s Story Department Internship program; it will also enable the introduction of a series of market-readiness workshops for alumni of the PSP’s Scripted Series Lab, Indigenous Screenwriters Lab, and other core programs.

“The Story Department Internship program forms the vital bridge between pre-professional training and writers room jobs for many of our program alumni,” says Kate Anderson, the PSP’s Scripted Series Lab Manager. “The subsidized internships allow early-career writers to demonstrate their skills and build professional relationships in a working room. These opportunities often lead to subsequent work, and we are thrilled that producers and showrunners are so supportive of the program.”

WBDAC becomes the lead funder of the Story Department Internships, which are also supported by Creative BC. In addition, the contribution from WBDAC will allow the creation of a series of sessions to support PSP alumni in navigating the business side of screenwriting and the industry.

“We are very appreciative of this new funding from Warner Bros. Discovery Access Canada. This new partnership is a further endorsement of the PSP and the vital role it plays in the domestic scripted industry in BC,” said Camilla Tibbs, the PSP’s Executive Director. “We are pleased to welcome them to the growing list of industry organizations supporting our programs.”
