David Geary Joins the ISL as Story Room Mentor

The PSP is delighted that experienced screenwriter and educator David Geary is stepping in to take over the role of Story Room Mentor for the upcoming Indigenous Screenwriters Lab, taking place at UBC in August 2024. 

David Geary

David Geary (Taranaki Māori) grew up with the Polynesian Trickster tales of Māui in Aotearoa New Zealand and now lives among the Coyote and Raven Tricksters of the occupied territories of the Coast Salish in colonial North Vancouver. He is an award-winning screenwriter, playwright, fiction writer and poet. He’s worked in story rooms, written screenplays and a documentary for 100+ hours of television. He teaches in the Indigenous Film, Documentary, and Playwriting programs at Capilano University; Playwriting and Dramaturgy for PTC Playwrights Theatre Centre; and is a script mentor for the NBC Indigenous Digital Accelerator program. He lives by the yogic mantra: life is short, stretch it and writes haiku on X @gearsgeary
