2026 Scripted Series Lab Cohort Announced

Six participants have been chosen to take part in the 2026 Scripted Series Lab with Showrunner-in-Residence Floyd Kane. The 2026 cohort is Ryan Bright, Jongyoon Greg Choi, Lucia Frangione, James Howells, Brenna Kwon, and Richard Young.
Floyd Kane remarked, “The abundance of talent present in the applicants for this year’s SSL made selecting six extremely difficult. The six chosen have a fantastic mix of skills and talents that I’m looking forward to collaborating with and initiating to the world of hour long drama writing.”
During the Scripted Series Lab, in addition to their 10-week writers room experience with Floyd, participants receive valuable script mentoring on their original pilots, plus engage in workshops and information sessions with industry leaders to help them evolve their skills and build careers in BC’s dynamic and ever-changing industry.
Alumni of the Scripted Series Lab are currently writing on shows such as Allegiance, Bet, Crew Girl, High Potential, Private Eyes West Coast, Saint-Pierre, Wild Cards, Yaga and more. This year’s cohort will close the program and launch their careers as they attend the Vancouver Scripted Summit, which takes place in Vancouver in April, 2026.
The lead sponsor of the 2026 Scripted Series Lab is Paramount+ Canada. Additional funding is provided by the Canada Media Fund plus Creative BC and the Province of British Columbia, with in kind support from the Vancouver International Film Festival.
